  • In-person therapy is not offered at the moment. All sessions will be online video sessions conducted via Jane App. After you book a session, you will receive a link before the appointment time.

    Phone therapy is offered under special circumstances.

  • Yes, couples therapy is offered virtually.

    Each individual will have their own login information and can independently access the video session.

    You are recommended to seek separate therapists for individual therapy and couples therapy.

  • No, family therapy is not offered at the moment.

  • Yes, some evening and weekend timeslots are already available for online booking. Additional time slots can be made available upon request.

  • No. A therapist can assess your situation and give you suggestions, but cannot give you an official diagnosis. A diagnosis can only be offered by a psychologist or doctor, such as a general practitioner or psychiatrist.

    If you have a family doctor, reach out to them to inquire about a diagnosis. However, you do not need a diagnosis to start therapy.

  • No, you do not need a referral to see a therapist.

  • Virtual therapy is offered to clients based in Ontario and Quebec.

    You can receive therapy if you are based in one of these areas but temporarily residing or travelling elsewhere.

    Ivory Therapy is based in Ontario and regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Any ethical concerns should be forwarded to the CRPO.

  • No, psychotherapists are typically not covered by OHIP.

    However, many insurance providers in Canada offer coverage for psychotherapy. Please verify your coverage with your insurance provider.

  • Direct billing is available for plans provided by Green Shield Canada or Medavie Blue Cross.

    When direct billing is not available, receipts can be submitted to your provider for reimbursement. Please verify your coverage with your insurance provider.

  • All therapy sessions are offered virtually. You will need access to a device with a camera (i.e., smartphone, tablet, or computer) and reliable internet. Wired internet connection and Google Chrome as your browser are recommended.

    Before your first session, you will be required to sign a consent form.

  • Having video enhances your therapy experience, but we understand if you are not comfortable. Let your therapist know if you prefer to have your camera off for the session.

    Please inquire if you require phone therapy sessions.

  • That’s OK! Effective therapy is all about the fit, and sometimes your therapist may not feel right for you. Please let us know if you would like to be referred to another therapist.

  • A payment card will be requested at the time of intake. All major cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, or UnionPay). Payment will be collected using a PCI-compliant payment system, Jane Payments, after you arrive at your appointment.

  • Yes. Everyone deserves access to mental health care. Student discounts and low-cost rates are offered as part of the affordable therapy program.

  • 24 hours notice is required for any cancellation or change to your appointment.

    If you provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss your appointment, a cancellation fee will be applied.

    If you arrive 15 minutes later than your scheduled start time, you will be marked as having missed that appointment, and the cancellation fee will be applied.

  • You can cancel or change your session using the online booking system, Jane App, up to 24 hours before your scheduled session time. Alternatively, you can send an email to contact@ivorytherapy.com or call (437) 292-3899.

    Note that a cancellation fee will apply if a session is cancelled, missed, or changed with less than 24-hours notice.

  • All your personal information will be kept secure and confidential.

    You may request for access to your own file at any time. Special requests for documents may be billed at a prorated change depending on the time required to prepare the documents.

    Your personal information will not be disclosed elsewhere without your consent, unless mandated by court or police, or when there is serious risk for harm.

    The booking system, Jane App, is where your billing information and charts are stored. It is fully HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR-compliant.

  • Ivory Therapy is based in Ontario and regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
